Soil and Health Library
Financial Statement

General Picture as of March, 2010

The big news of March, 2010, is that Justin Crawford, D.O. has come on board, adding his expertise, education and experience in natural healing to the library. Justin has an ownership stake in the library's future.
Our website host and web design is by i-Possible, located in Melbourne, run by Matthew Tew. I-Possible provides us with virtually 100% uptime maintained by a dual server constant backup system. Matthew also provides all needed site design. Matthew is talented, honest, caring and responsible. I recommend him to anyone needing site hosting and design.
The library has expenses but we do not consider hardware and most software purchases as being expenses of the library. In 2005 Steve Solomon purchased a Xerox 286 Document Centre to the tune of a bit over $6,000, but this has not been expensed to the library. Steve bought it out of pocket because he uses it to print his own vegetable gardening book on it rather than going to the copy shop. It also serves to scan for the library at no cost—a win/win.
To expand the library contents we buy used books, incur interlibrary loan fees and pay some international postage because many titles are loaned and I have to return them. Minor costs don't appear in this accounting: namely mileage, some telephone expense, miscellaneous postage, electricity to run computers, burning the midnight oil, etc. In June, 2005, the library was gifted with the health-related books of Ross Horne subject to paying shipping to bring them from Queensland. Ross' library will provide several years advance work sitting on the do-be-done shelf, an awesome responsibility. In 2009 the library purchased the collection of Larry and Barbara Geno which mainly consists of classic books on fruit tree varieties and propagation.
Nothing has been expensed against the library's income for time and effort. Making this library is a huge joy.
Financial support from patrons is experienced as an appreciation of our efforts and allows us to expand the site's activities far beyond what we otherwise might do if Justin and Steve paid for everything out of pocket. The Soil and Health Library is NOT yet a registered or chartered nonprofit. It currently has neither constitution, bylaws, written structure nor bank account. So any donations must be directed to Justin Crawford, personally. Although we request only ten euros from users as a once-in-a-lifetime contribution, larger donations are joyfully accepted.

Frequency of update
Just about every time new files are put to the site this page will be updated.

Currency of account
Costs and donations often are indiscriminately expressed in any of these—US, Canadian, NZ or Australian dollars—without concern for the exchange rate. This inaccuracy allows for simplicity. Besides, it seems irrelevant what the exact balance is, as long as the figures below tell the story of the site and roughly portray its financial position.
